Cookies Policy.

The short version: this site sets no tracking cookies, runs no analytics and carries no advertising. Below is the full list of what it actually stores and which outside servers it talks to.

Last updated: 13 August 2026 No analytics · No ads

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep, so that something can be remembered between page loads. Related technologies — localStorage and sessionStorage — do much the same job through a different mechanism. This policy covers all of them, because from a privacy point of view the distinction that matters is what gets stored and why, not which API stores it.

Cookies are usually described as essential (the site cannot function properly without them), preference (they remember a choice you made), analytics (they measure how the site is used) or marketing (they follow you between sites to target advertising).

2. What this site uses

This website uses one preference entry and nothing else. Specifically:

  • It sets no HTTP cookies of its own.
  • It runs no analytics — no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no heatmaps, no session recording.
  • It carries no advertising or retargeting code.
  • It stores one value in localStorage, to remember that you dismissed the cookie banner so it stops reappearing.

That single entry is a preference, not tracking. It is stored on your device, is never transmitted to us, and contains no identifier that could be used to recognise you.

3. The full list of what is stored

Name
ekd-cookie-choice
Type
localStorage (first-party) — not an HTTP cookie
Purpose
Remembers that you dismissed the cookie notice, so it is not shown on every page
Value
all or essential
Category
Preference / essential to the notice working
Expiry
Kept until you clear your browser storage
Sent to us?
No — it never leaves your browser

That is the complete list. If it ever grows, this table is updated at the same time as the code.

4. Third-party requests

No third party sets a cookie on this site. There is, however, one outbound request worth being upfront about.

Google Fonts

The site's typefaces — Instrument Serif, Manrope and JetBrains Mono — are loaded from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Fetching them means your browser contacts Google's servers, which makes your IP address and user-agent visible to Google for the duration of that request. Google states that it does not set cookies on the Google Fonts endpoints and does not use the requests for advertising, but the connection itself is real and we would rather name it than bury it.

If you would prefer no request to leave for a third party at all, the fonts can be self-hosted from our own server instead — it is a small change, and we are happy to make it. A browser extension that blocks third-party requests will also stop it; the site remains fully usable, only the typefaces fall back to your system fonts.

Hosting

Like any website, this one is served by a hosting provider that records standard server logs. That is described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Managing it yourself

You are always in control of what your browser stores. Clearing site data will remove the preference entry, and the notice will simply appear again on your next visit.

  • Chrome / Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies, or Clear browsing data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data

Blocking everything on this domain will not break the site. The only visible effect is that the cookie notice cannot remember being dismissed.

7. Cookies in the projects we build

This policy covers this website only. A site or system we build for a client is a separate matter: an online store needs a cookie to keep a cart alive, and a SaaS product needs one to keep a user signed in.

When we build for you, we implement only the cookies your system genuinely needs, we tell you what each one does, and — where you add analytics or marketing tools on top — we make sure the consent mechanism actually gates them rather than just displaying a banner. Publishing an accurate cookie policy on your own site remains your responsibility as the operator, and we will give you the technical detail you need to write one.

8. Changes to this policy

If we add anything that stores data in your browser, or introduce a new third-party service, this page is updated before the change goes live and the date at the top changes with it.
